Hearing from relatable role models is key to building a young person’s aspirations for the future. We are looking for a diverse range of volunteers who are willing to speak about (for example) their experiences of the world of work, entrepreneurship, managing money, learning new skills, overcoming obstacles, and much more. We are not just looking for CEOs and those who have followed a traditional education and work background; those with non-traditional backgrounds and experiences can be hugely inspiring to young people who may not feel they ‘fit the mould’.

Speaking opportunities can vary locally but are likely to include, for example: -Giving a short address to a whole school or year group assembly within a school -A bespoke piece or interview for a specific project -Providing a Keynote address for a competition or similar event

Events might take place in person or online, so you will have opportunities to volunteer to suit you wherever you are based. You will be able to take on as many or as few speaking events as you wish over the course of an academic year. Factoring in time for preparation as well as delivery we expect each speaking opportunity to involve anywhere between 3-5 volunteering hours in total.

A great Speaker will be: -Confident and able to address a large group of young people -Patient, encouraging and open-minded -Comfortable in the presence of young people (but no specific experience is necessary) -Able to communicate appropriately with young people and develop age-appropriate content -Comfortable in the use of basic IT
