Competition Judge (Pitch to the Panel)
Some of our Young Enterprise programmes involve competitions and/ or opportunities to provide impartial feedback to groups of young people. To ensure our young participants can get the most out of these activities, we are looking for volunteers to support the judging of these events. This is an incredibly varied role as our competitions and events might be local, regional, national or even international (European). Competition Judges might find themselves judging our national Company of the Year finals, supporting ‘Pitch to the Panel’ activities to give feedback to young people, or attending and assessing participants at local trade fairs, for example.
The key activities of the role include: -Joining a panel of volunteers to give feedback to the Young Enterprise teams in Devon -Collaborating with and positively challenging others to agree which groups are successful (against the relevant criteria) -Contributing to and providing constructive and well-rounded feedback to groups of young people
Events might take place in person or online, so you will have opportunities to volunteer to suit you wherever you are based. We would expect a typical commitment to be between one day for many events, up to a few days in total for some of our bigger events such as our Company Programme National Finals.
A great Competition Judge will be: -Patient, encouraging and open-minded -Comfortable in the presence of young people (but no specific experience is necessary) -Able to communicate appropriately with young people to provide and present meaningful feedback to them -Comfortable in the use of basic IT -Able to take on and weigh up information in different formats ie. Written, video, in-person interviews, applying scoring criteria consistently and fairly
